What does leadership mean to you?
I am eager to learn to become a better leader. To me, leadership is by action as well as organizing information and understanding those around you. Responsibility and accountability are key factors, as well as respecting and motivating those around you to do their best.
What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
Another unique thing about me is that I was on the television show “Chopped Junior” when I was 11 years old. I was on the first episode of the first season and the youngest person in my group. I passed through two rounds, and just one episode took over 8 hours to film. It was an amazing experience that I feel so lucky to have. It allowed me to understand how important it is to have confidence in myself. I also had to have faith in my abilities, which I worked very hard to develop, through many interviews and auditions. Once I was being filmed in the famous kitchen, I realized how vital all of the skills I had worked so hard to develop were! Originally, I was called by the casting agency based on my previous experience from the Loukoumi Recipe of the Month Contest I had won, as well through my YouTube channel. I was so excited with the opportunity, and put everything I could into the several-month-long audition process. Finally, after a lot of work, I was chosen to go on the air! We went to New York City and I competed on national television! It was one of the greatest experiences I could have asked for. I was very proud of what I did in front of the judges, and learned so much about myself, cooking, and the television industry.
