Biography

2017-18: Team captain.... Rowed in the stroke seat for the gold-medal winning second varsity eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships, stunning runner-up Hobart with a remarkable time of 5:46.210, cutting more than 14 seconds off the Bobcats' performance in their heat.... Rowed in the stroke seat for the second varsity eight at the IRA National Championship Regatta, outracing crews from Stanford, Saint Joseph's University and Florida Tech to qualify for the third level final. 

2016-17: Rowed for the second varsity eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships as the M2V8 finished second to Hobart in the grand final.... Bates won the 2017 NESCAC Championship.

2015-16: Rowed at the stroke position in the second varsity eight as the Bobcats finished fifth out of 21 teams at the National Invitational Rowing Championships.

2014-15: Rowed in the stoke position in the men's second varsity eight as the Bobcats earned a bronze medal at the National Invitational Rowing Championships.
