2018-19: Team captain.... NIRC All-Academic selection.... NESCAC Spring All-Academic selection.... Senior Scholar Award recipient.... Rowed with the second varsity eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships.... After winning its heat, the second varsity eight placed third in the grand final with a time of 6:12.105, less than a second behind runner-up Michigan.

2017-18: NIRC All-Academic selection.... NESCAC Spring All-Academic selection.... IRA All-Academic Team.... Rowed for the gold-medal winning second varsity eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships, stunning runner-up Hobart with a remarkable time of 5:46.210, cutting more than 14 seconds off the Bobcats' performance in their heat.... Rowed for the second varsity eight at the IRA National Championship Regatta, outracing crews from Stanford, Saint Joseph's University and Florida Tech to qualify for the third level final. 

2016-17: NIRC All-Academic selection.... NESCAC Spring All-Academic selection.... Rowed for the second varsity eight at the National Invitational Rowing Championships as the M2V8 finished second to Hobart in the grand final.... Bates won the 2017 NESCAC Championship.

2015-16: Rowed in the men's novice eight as the Bobcats finished fifth out of 21 teams at the National Invitational Rowing Championships.
