As an alumna, Dorothy has spoken to organizations about the importance of her college athletic experience to her career. At Bates, Dorothy was also a member of the Arts Society and the Student-Faculty Committee and was business manager for The Mirror. Dorothy’s professional career in finance was inspired by her experience as a Ladd intern at Bates. She worked at Allied Bank International, where she also worked for a short time after graduation. In 1987, Dorothy joined Deloitte Haskins & Sells/Roulac Real Estate Consulting Group, which became part of Deloitte & Touche. She held positions including senior consultant, manager, and senior manager in the Corporate Services Group. Dorothy earned an M.B.A. from Fordham University in 1989. In the 1990s, she supervised the temporary relocation of the offices and then the move to the new offices in the World Financial Center. For seven years, she was chief of staff to Tri-State Regional Managing Partner William G. Parrett, who later became CEO of the global firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Dorothy became a partner in 1999. Currently, Dorothy serves as a principal and deputy managing partner of the Northwest Region for Deloitte LLP. In addition to her regional responsibilities, Dorothy is a leader of Deloitte's Women's Initiative program. She is on the board of trustees for her secondary school, the Canterbury School in New Milford, Conn. She is also a director and treasurer of New 42nd Street, an organization created by New York City and the state of New York to revitalize the theater district. Dorothy has also been on the board of directors of the Urban Land Institute Foundation and has served on the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund Real Estate and Construction Council. Dorothy's alumni activities include volunteering for Alumni-in-Admission (1982-1998). She has offered to host students through the Ladd Internships and Career Discovery in Practice program, and has been on the career adviser roster for the Bates Career Development Center. She has expressed willingness to serve on a panel at Reunion and to speak to a class about regulatory issues. She is a member of the College Key.  Alpert is married to Morrey Halfon. They have two children and live in New York City. For her support of and dedication to Bates College, we proudly welcome Dorothy L. Alpert into the membership of the Bates Scholar-Athlete Society.
