Bates junior John Rex (Andover, Mass.) captured the Peter Goodrich Memorial Award for field athletes at the Maine State Meet. Rex won the weight throw with a new personal record of 60'8", moving into ninth on Bates' all-time performance list. Rex also won the shot put (49'2.25") to score 20 points for the Bobcats.
In a strange twist, both the men and women tied Bowdoin for first in the final team final points standings.
