Senior captain Kaelyn Woods finished 14th, her highest in the young season, to lead the Bates women's and men's Nordic skiing teams Friday at the Colby Carnival, with racing held at Quarry Road Recreation Area.
Woods (New Gloucester, Maine) placed a season-high 14th among 81 women in the 5-kilometer freestyle, with a time of 14:39.7, earning 29 carnival points and scoring 20 NCAA qualifying points.
She followed that up by placing 14th out of 76 women with a time of 35:53.0 in the 10K classic on Saturday.
Bates' Nordic and alpine ski teams combined to score 437 team carnival points, seventh-most among 15 teams at the Colby Carnival.
Bates hosts the Bates Carnival next weekend, Feb. 7-8, with Nordic racing taking place at Black Mountain in Rumford, Maine. Alpine races take place at Sunday River in Newry, Maine.
