First-year Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) came in 59th place to complete the Bates women's cross country team's scoring at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships on Saturday. Bates finished fourth among 54 teams, tied for its best team finish since 1997.

"Jordan Wilson came up big. She had a great finish today," said head coach Jay Hartshorn.

Bates women's cross country earned the sixth team invitation to the NCAA Division III Championships in program history on Sunday, and will compete for the national championship this Saturday in Louisville, Ky. It will be the third time in four years the Bobcats have received an at-large invitation to nationals.

Bates previously ran as a team at NCAAs in 1995 (placing 18th out of 21 teams), 1997 (15th/21), 2012 (19th/32), 2016 (19th/32) and 2018 (17th/32).
