O’Neal joined the Bates sports medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer in August of 2018.
She came to Bates after spending a year working at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she was primarily responsible for field hockey, women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s basketball. Prior to her time at Hobart and William Smith, O’Neal was a graduate assistant athletic trainer through the University of South Carolina graduating with a master’s degree in Advanced Athletic Training in May of 2017. During the 2016-17 year, she worked independently as the athletic trainer at Columbia International University where she provided coverage for six varsity teams including men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s cross country and track. During the summer of 2016, O’Neal assisted in coverage of Gamecocks football summer workouts. Through her first year, she was the assistant athletic trainer at Swansea High School where she worked to cover 25 middle and high school sports teams.
O’Neal earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training and kinesiology from Charleston Southern University in 2015. As an undergraduate, she worked as a student with Charleston Southern’s women’s basketball and soccer teams as well as football and baseball.
O’Neal is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
