Bates sophomore guard Graham Safford brought a high level of play to all four games as the Bobcat men's basketball team went 2-2 last week in four games over six days. For the week he averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50% (20-40) from the field and 55% (11-20) from behind the three-point arc.

Safford (Hampden, Maine) started off with 13 points and five assists in Bates' 72-66 setback against UMaine-Farmington on Monday. He then made the most of his 19 minutes of action as Bates routed the University of New England 78-40 on Tuesday, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and hitting all three of his three-point attempts en route to 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and one spectacular blocked shot.

Bates suffered a 74-70 overtime setback against Bowdoin on Thursday, as Safford scored a career- and game-high 21 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 38 minutes of action. The Bobcats capped the week with a 67-57 comeback win over Colby, with Safford contributing seven rebounds and 14 points, including 10 scored while Bates reversed a 16-point deficit in the second half.
