Senior captain Meredith Kelly averaged 31.8 points per game over four games last week to lead women’s basketball to a 3-1 mark and to gain female Bobcat of the Week accolades for the week of Dec. 2-8.

A resident of Cohasset, Mass., Kelly also earned NESCAC and MWBCA Player of the Week honors for her exploits last week as she scored 30 or more points in each Bates’ wins over that time period. She shot 56.5 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free throw line while posting 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 steals, and 2.0 assists per game over last week’s four contests.

Kelly scored 12 of her 30 points in overtime as Bates won 80-75 at Colby on Dec. 4, adding in 11 rebounds and six steals. She wrapped up the week with a Bates-record 42 points in a 104-83 win over UMaine-Augusta on Dec. 7, also setting team records for field goals (18) and points in a half (25). Bates' previous single-game scoring record was 37. Against UMaine-Machias on Dec. 2, she compiled 32 points and 13 rebounds while netting 23 points vs. Bridgewater St. on Dec. 6.

On the season, the 5-8 guard leads the NESCAC in scoring at 24.8 points per game, 7.4 points more per game than the next player on the list. She also ranks first in the conference in steals per game (3.4), eighth in field goal percentage (.516) and 17th in rebounds per game (6.6).

Kelly and the Bobcats return to play on Jan. 4 vs. St. Lawrence at the Williams Classic in Williamstown, Mass.
