James (Avon, Maine) placed 13th among 104 individuals to lead the Bates women's Nordic team in the 1.5-kilometer classic sprint race at the Bates Carnival in 4:18.7 on Friday. She recorded the team's second lowest time in the 5K on Saturday, finishing in 22nd in 13:00.0, 22nd out of 79 racers.
