No. 18 women's squash edges No. 21 Wesleyan 6-3, falls at No. 2 Trinity 9-0

The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team moved to 3-1 on the season by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday, defeating No. 21 Wesleyan 6-3 and falling at No. 2 Trinity 9-0. 

Bates returns to action on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6pm when the Bobcats welcome Mount Holyoke to the Bates Squash Center.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Bobcats swept five matches on their way to a 6-3 win at No. 21 Wesleyan (3-3) Saturday morning. 

Senior captain Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) set the tone at the top of the ladder, winning 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-8) over Wesleyan's Aditi Prasad at the No. 1 position. First-year Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) impressed with a 3-0 (15-13, 11-6, 11-5) win at the No. 3 position over Valeria Osorio.

First-year Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) won her third match of the young season with a 3-0 (11-1, 11-4, 11-2) victory over Natasha Feenstra at the No. 5 position and fellow first-year Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) did the same at the No. 7 position by a count of 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-9) over Sofia Melian-Morse.

Sophomore Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) and first-year Lucy Moseley (Philadelphia, Pa.) rounded out the wins for Bates on Saturday with victories at the No. 8 and 9 positions respectively. Bachman rallied from one game down to prevail 3-1 (3-11, 11-6, 12-10, 11-8) over Annie Roach. And Moseley swept Emma Smith 3-0 (13-11, 11-5, 11-7).

No. 2 Trinity 9, No. 18 Bates 0

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The No. 2 nationally ranked Bantams (5-0) swept the Bobcats 9-0 Saturday afternoon.

Trinity has swept every opponent so far this season. Polgar gave Sarahi Lopez a strong effort at the No. 1 position before falling 3-0 (11–6, 11-8, 11-6). Parker kept the final two games close in a 3-0 (11-4, 11-9, 11-8) loss to Ashita Bhengra at the No. 5 position.
