LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates first-year doubles pair Leo Kupferman and Cameron Kania lost 8-6 to Bowdoin's Oscar Yang and Tristan Bradley in the championship match of the A Singles Flight, as the annual Wallach Men's Tennis Invitational concluded Sunday at the Wallach Tennis Center.
After advancing to the semifinals with a pair of wins on Saturday, Kuperfman and Kania moved into the championship match by walkover due to injury against Suraj Mahtani and Alper Kulturel of Skidmore.
Bates senior Jacob Eisenberg (Armonk, N.Y.) also competed on Sunday in the B Singles semifinal round, falling to eventual flight champion Justin Wang of Bowdoin 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
Colby's Scott Altmeyer defeated Bowdoin's Oscar Yang in the A Singles Flight championship match, while Bowdoin's Yang and Tristan Bradley won the A Doubles Flight.
The tournament pits players from Bates, Bowdoin, Brandeis, Colby, RPI, Skidmore, Trinity and Tufts to compete for titles in two doubles flights and four singles flights.
Other flight winners on Sunday were Justin Wang of Bowdoin in B Singles; Brendan Jimenez of Skidmore in C Singles; Sergiu Celebidachi of Skidmore in D Singles; and Jeff Chen and Simon Kauppila of Brandeis in B Doubles.
