BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Three Bates men's golfers finished just one stroke back of medalist honors and the Bobcats took second out of three teams Saturday in the CBB Tournament at Brunswick Golf Club.

Senior captain Andrew Garcia-Bou (Eastchester, N.Y.), sophomore Jack Howard (Pelham, N.Y.) and senior captain Julien Lewin (Seattle, Wash.) all shot a 79 on Saturday, with Lewin recording an eagle on the third hole and a birdie on the sixth hole. Garcia-Bou birdied the 16th hole and Howard birdied the ninth hole, a 601-yard par 5.

Five Bobcats combined to shoot 403, four strokes back of Bowdoin. The Polar Bears' Favian Busnawi shot a 78 to earn medalist honors.

Bates finished second out of three teams, defeating Colby by nine strokes in the one-day tournament. It's only the second time in the last six years the Bobcats have not won the CBB Tournament.

The Bobcats return to action Sunday at the Colby Classic, played at Waterville Country Club.
